What is our idea? Our idea is to create an ident which features the distinct imagery of a go-kart driver searching for a parking space in a supermarket style car park. The driver will then reverse his go-kart into a space between two other cars, step out and walk off, locking his go-kart like a regular car as he does. The ident will continue once the driver had walked off to show a car pass by. This car will pause when near the place in which the go-kart is parked but then drives off once it's driver realises that the space is taken by a go-kart. The driver of the car doesn't need to be seen, however the go-kart driver will be wearing a suit with an old fashioned pilot's cap and aviator goggles. When would it be likely to be aired?Much like all of Dave's other idents, this ident could easily precede any of the shows the channel airs. As for the time of day that the ident would be aired in; it would likely be morning to evening, as it wouldn't fit much with a late night theme due to the imagery taking place during daylight hours. How could our idea develop in the future?Dave often has many variations of their idents, some of which carry a narrative story between them, such as the horse in the parking block that gets clamped in a separate ident. We could do something similar, by having a future ident that has a police officer inspect the go-kart in the parking space and another than shows the go-kart being towed away. How could we keep the same theme throughout future idents? If we where to continue making this series of idents, we would use the same kind of comedy of having a piece of strange and unusual imagery be mixed into a regular and normal setting. How has Dave previously kept a similar theme between its idents? As previously mentioned, Dave often has a story be told over multiple idents but all of their idents stick to a very slapstick and brash style of comedy that is very much "in your face". Why are we repackaging Dave's idents? We are repackaging Dave's idents as their current logo doesn't fully match their brand and because the split of high class style and witty banter is a very tenuous link and doesn't fit as well as our new style of witty banter comedy in a rustic homely feel, which relates more with the imagery of pubs and English country landscapes that Dave typically use in their idents.
