How would you rate Dave's current idents and branding?I asked this question to see how highly people rate the current Dave branding, so that I knew what I would have to compete against with my design. 60% (3) of people rated the current Dave branding 3 out of 5 stars; 20% (1) rated it as 4 out of 5 stars and the other 20% rated it 5 out of 5 stars. These responses are useful as they have shown that most people think that the Dave branding could be significantly improved, whereas a few people think it is fine as it is. Do you feel that the idents promote Dave as a comedy channel?I asked this to find out if people thought that the current Dave brand correctly represented the comedy element of Dave's branding. My responses showed that 60% of the people who answered the questionnaire answered yes, whereas the other 40% answered no. These responses are useful as they show that the overall belief of whether or not the brand represents the comedy element of the channel is very split, however 10% more people believe that the channel does represent the comedy element of the brand. Do you feel that Dave’s branding promotes the channel as sophisticated and professional?Similarly to the previous question, I asked this to see if people agreed that the channel correctly represented one half of it's brand, this time for the sophisticated element of the brand. The responses where far more unbalanced this time as 80% of people believed that the channel came across as sophisticated whereas only 20% of the people who answered the questionnaire believed that the brand didn't appear sophisticated. These responses are useful to me as it shows that Dave doesn't represent the comedy element of their brand as well as it does the sophisticated element, which is odd as Dave is primarily a comedy channel. If you answered yes to both of the previous questions, do you feel that these 2 sides of the brand work well together?I asked this to see if people generally thought that the 2 sides of the brand, which could easily clash, work well together. Rather unsurprisingly, 80% of the people who answered the questionnaire said that the two elements of the brand didn't work well together, however the remaining 20% believed they did. This is useful as it shows me that the Dave brand clearly needs developing so that the 2 elements of the brand can work well together instead of clashing. Do you feel that Dave’s idents are too long or too short?I asked this so that I could have an idea of what sort of length our ident should be. 100% of the people who answered the questionnaire said that the idents are just the right length. This is helpful as it shows me that I don't need to change the general duration of Dave's idents. Do you feel that the imagery in Dave’s idents is too complex?I asked this to see if people thought the imagery in my rebranded ident should be simpler than Dave's existing idents. 60% said that the imagery is not too complex whereas 40% believed that it was. The split in responses for this questionnaire makes it hard to make a decision on whether to have more or less complex imagery due to the divide being so even. Do you feel that the imagery in Dave’s idents is too simple?I asked this question to see if people thought the imagery in my rebranded ident should be more complex than Dave's existing idents. 60% of people answered no whereas 40% answered yes. Again, this is a very even divide, which makes t hard to go either way, however since 60% of people answered no to both questions, it would seem that generally, people believe the Dave brand's idents are not too complex or too simple, and the imagery in my rebranded ident should fit that theme. Do you feel that the logo should be more or less discrete in Dave’s idents?I asked this to see how obvious people thought the Dave logo should be in our rebranded ident. 80% of people answered that it should be more discrete compared to Dave's existing idents, whereas only 20% said it should be less discrete. This is helpful as it shows me that I should make the Dave logo less obvious in my rebranded ident. Do you feel that the logo needs updating?I asked this to see if people thought that Dave's logo need change from the one that they use in their idents. 80% of people answered yes, so we will use our redesign of the logo in our ident as oppose to the official design. Do you have any additional comments about what you would like to see in new idents for the channel?I received two additional comments in this section they are:
"I believe that the Ident for Dave needs to be more comical, the logo itself doesn't appeal to this channel visually however I also feel that it is meant to have that purpose with connotations to surprise the audience. Although this could create some misconceptions for their channel target audience/corporate identity. It would be nice to have some discrete imagery to make it more comical and to think more about the concept of the channel itself." and "It's interesting that part of the design brief for 'Dave' focusses on 'professionalism' as this seems at odds with it's comedy target audience. For this reason it's a surprise that professionalism is at the top of their agenda when you might expect that perhaps the entertainment value would be the most important aspect of their design brief." Both of these responses show me that people believe the comedy element of the brand should be the leading aspect of their brand and that the professional side shouldn't be as highly valued from a design perspective. |
